The building is located on Old Street with collaborative, light filled 21,000 sq. ft. floors including double height spaces overlooking private courtyards and terraces on every floor. There will be a new 4,800 sq. ft. main entrance with space for a café and tenant lounges.
The building is due for completion now and we are proud to announce that in the entire reception area there are Verano VKN fan assisted trench heaters installed along glazing facades.
Nearly completed 148 Old Street is a 152,000 sq. ft. office redevelopment situated over 11 floors.
It is located on Old Street with collaborative, light filled 21,000 sq. ft. floors including double height spaces overlooking private courtyards and terraces on every floor. Adjacent to the building, there will be a new 4,800 sq. ft. main entrance with space for a cafe and tenant lounges.
During the process the company called Cantillon have been appointed by the investor: Great Portland Estates to undertake partial demolition, structural alterations and enabling works package for 148 Old Street.
The building served previously as the location of the Old Street Royal Mail Sorting Office, after refurbishment it will deliver 151,000 sq. ft. of high quality office space.
The external scaffold was cantilevered out on various elevations to allow piling works to progress within the basement area, adopting this strategy, Cantillon could reduce the programme and allow the main contractor to commence his critical works within the basement earlier. Most of the piles were placed within areas of restricted headroom. Drainage slots were formed within the existing basement slabs to facilitate the installation of new drainage. The refurbishment and extension of the previous Royal Mail building into new offices poses many acoustic challenges.
RBA Acoustics were appointed to provide design advice and assessments for all aspects of the new offices including: external and internal sound insulation for occupant privacy, reverberation times / absorptive treatments and mechanical services.
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the entire reception area will be heated by Verano fan assisted units. Trench heaters from Verano works efficiently, by especially compensating cold downdraught along full glazed facades.
