Villa “Czerwony Dwór”

Work completion date: 2017
Address: ul. Kasprusie 27, Zakopane

The “Czerwony Dwór” villa is a historic building located at Kasprusie Street in Zakopane. Until recently, there was a kindergarten. Currently, after a thorough renovation, it is a cultural attraction of the city.

The history of the building begins in 1902. It was then that the villa, which was initially called Władysławka, was built. Since then, it has hosted many famous authors and artists, incl. Karol Szymanowski, Witkacy, Stefan Żeromski and Zofia Nałkowska. In 1907, the owner of the villa was Irena Goszczyńska née Łukowska, who renovated the building and covered it with a red roof. At that time, its name was changed to “Czerwony Dwór”.

Before the building became a cultural centre promoting native art, it underwent a significant renovation. All installations were replaced, tiled stoves were reconstructed, a modern fire protection system was installed, and the surroundings of the building were taken care of. Since the building was underwritten to the register of monuments, all works were carried out in consultation with the conservator of monuments. The total cost of the renovation was estimated at PLN 6.8 million, of which more than half – PLN 3.8 million came from EU funds.

Currently, it is a unique place where exhibitions of the works of Podhale artists, artisans, workshops of folk art, lectures and lectures are held.

Verano trench heaters with a wooden grille fit perfectly into the historic Zakopane interiors. They take care of the optimal temperature without disturbing the traditional and cultural character of the place.
